I did not know Bill for a terribly long time, but he was an inspiration to a lot of people, myself included. As much for his accomplishments in running, biking and outdoorsmanship, I admired him for the gentleman he was, for his soft-spoken drive to push the limits and for being a welcoming influence to so many. He lived a life many of us could only wish to live and seemed to enjoy every minute of it. I take comfort in the fact that Bill passed on doing what he loved and that is something many of us could only hope for. Bill has now ascended to a place higher than any mountain here on earth and in the end that is the greatest achievement of all.
Thank you, Bill, for making me feel welcome and for the snipets of encouragement you've given me in the time I've known you.
